Knitting Podcasts again, and a few new ones that I like

Hey! Well, first, as promised, my knitting project, previously mentioned in the last post:

The one on the Left is the full sweater, joined with the sleeves, seen on the right, just today! I had to lift my blinds for the full body pic, because it's getting dark out, and also because the clouds from the thunderstorm are blocking the lovely light we've been having for the past few days. I have to say, it's nice to have warm weather!

Right! now that that's done, I can get to the Podcasts. I don't know if you know, and I think you do, but I am terribly fond of knitting podcasts. However, it's hard for me to find knitting podcasts that are continued, not just short-period ones, and even harder to find, among that small group, a list of good ones. I listened to almost all of Cast On's podcasts, and I have been on the rise for new ones ever since.

Note: Cast On is a podcast by Brenda Dayne, a Portlander who lives in England with her partner. I like her a lot, except that she is gay. I don't agree with that, but this really isn't a blog about my views on politics. Anyway, what I really don't like is when her podcasts involve a lot more talking than music. Her first episodes, up until around her 60th episodes, were very good. I liked, most of all, the addition of a daily sweater. She'd play a song (one dedicated to Mr. Rogers), and she'd introduce the sweater, and it's back story. She had many, many sweaters, but, of course, she had to run out.

So, now, she only does sweaters periodically, and without the song. Which is awful, because I really liked the song, and I think that it would add something to her podcast if she played it. Like the theme song of a show that is hardly ever on TV anymore. It excites you for what's coming next. Also, her newer podcasts include a lot of talking, and interviews. Those are ok, but I liked it better when she could play at least 5 songs per podcast, when it was more of a radio show than a talk podcast.

In any case, I've been on the rise for new podcasts, and I think I've found some. This may not seem like a simple task, except that no one makes a podcast like Brenda Dayne. What I really wanted was something that was very much like her. They recorded often, they talking mostly about knitting, they had good songs, and their sound quality was good. Well, I took out the song thing, because people just don't do that in the podcast world. But I've finally found two that I think I might really enjoy.

These podcasts are : Sticks and String, and cogKNITive podcast. Sticks and string is by an Australian man, and surprisingly enough, I like him. Normally, I don't like men hosting knitting podcasts. I don't know why, I just don't. But this guy, David Reidy, is intelligent and nice and just has a gentle masculine feel about him, which is what I like in a voice.

cogKNITive is a podcast intertwining knitting and psychology. I think this one might just be good for me, since I'm sort of a pessimist lately (knowledge courtesy of my mother) and I think I need to learn to be a little more optimistic. Intertwining it with knitting will help me accept the advice more readily.

So, those are the new podcasts. My knitting project for mom is speeding along, and I do believe I'll have it done by her birthday! yippee!

Ciao for now,
Cimorine
