It's that time of year again! falalalala LA falalalala LA! PERRY! oh wait, wrong subject. That blog post comes next.
Anyway, here is my list of Christmas knitting items (none of which have been started yet)
- Aunt Diane's fair Isle socks
- Mary's Hand warmers (or mittens, I'm still not sure which
- Becca's socks
- Dad's socks
- Teresa's socks
- Peter's Mittens (probably really big green ones)
- Stephen's socks. (likely to be grey and for indoors or snow boots)
- Mom: the gift of Christmas
I'll be using this yarn for each:
- Aunt Diane: special yarn I bought at the knitting store, Close knit
- Mary's mittens/hand warmers: some dark tweed yarn that I was given by one of my neighbor's sister. she's one of those knitters who doesn't knit much anymore, and so has lots of good yarn lying around, waiting for her to take it to me.
- Becca's socks: likely these will be made with yarn from knitpicks that I remember buying for a sock monkey (hey, my monkey needs some company!) They are a lovely pink, brown, and white, in a lovely array, and they will look fabulous on Rebecca!
- Dad's socks: I just got new sock yarn (wool) from my cousins for my 21st birthday (woohoo! it hasn't happened yet, but I had a party for it anyway!) and it's perfect for a guy. He'll love it, I'm sure. Especially since I got all those new DPN's that will totally make sock knitting easier.
- Teresa's socks: this will be made of leftover yarn, white, worsted. (lion brand wool) and it'll be one of those types of comfy socks that you can go around in your snow boots in or in the house with. Teresa's one of my few happy receivers.
- Peter's Mittens: I have tons of extra yarn leftover from working on my Aunt and Uncle's afghan, so I will likely be using the remains of that for mittens for him! maybe I can embroider a little pumpkin on it for him or something.
- Stephen's socks: The yarn for this is also leftover. I made a grey sweater- vest for my Cousin (think circular shawl with armholes) and I have a nice amount of leftover yarn. so what else to do but make some nice manly socks out of them! Stephen should love it. :D
- Mom's gift: I really don't know if I can make her anything. If I can possibly contrive it, it's going to be mittens or socks, white ones, like Teresa's. But every year now I get her what she wants, which is the gift of Christmas. I don't mean to brag, but I almost literally make Christmas for the family, organizing the decorating, making all the cookies for Wagilia, often making many of the courses for the actual meal, and even helping out with the whole spirit. I don't mind the work too much, since I love Christmas, but sometimes I can't help but feel mad that my siblings (Stephen and Mary) will likely come home and visit all their friends and play in the snow whilst I cook. but, se la vie. And besides, Mom loves that I take over. It's a giant job, I'll grant her, and now that she's at work she's much more relaxed about me handling it. I am the perfect 40's woman (shrug).
Ciao for now,
Cimorine

To Emilia:

The Beast is a place and the social decay which emerges. The Anti-Christ is the bullshit.
The Anti-Christ is the positioning, whether enforcing the historical perception of the Holocaust, refusing to acknolowdge the existance/capability of Artificial Intelligence or the clone host fakes who infest society's upper eschelons, those who the gods use to enforce the BigLie which compells people to incurr evil through temptation.
Everyone "going along" is part of the problem. Ironically, this may be where you "earn" your place in the Apocalypse and your "consolation prize".
This is the REAL battle of good and evil. Take it or leave it.
